What is otolaryngology?

[It is the study of diseases and surgery of the ears, nose and throat by a doctor.]

Where is your office located?

[Our office is located at the intersection south of Wadsworth and Bowles. Our cross street is Parkhill. The actual address is 6169 South Balsam Way and we are in Suite #380.]

Is a referral needed to see Dr. Birney?

[A referral is only needed if your particular insurance requires a referral. Dr. Birney is a specialist and it will depend on your insurance as to whether a referral is needed.]

What are your hours?

[Our office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to Noon and 1:00pm to 5:00pm. We are open from 8:30am to Noon and 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Fridays.]

How do I make an appointment with Dr. Birney?

How long will it take to get an appointment with Dr. Birney?

[Dr. Birney sees patients on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since Dr. Birney is a specialist, our appointments tend to book quickly. However, we will do our best to get you an appointment as soon as possible.]

How long will an appointment last?

[If you are a new patient seeing Dr. Birney for problems with your ears, you will typically first be seen by an audiologist for 30 minutes and visit with Dr. Birney for 30 minutes. If you are a returning patient with ear problems, you will typically see the Audiologist for 15 minutes and then Dr. Birney for 15 minutes.

If you are a new patient seeing Dr. Birney for any other reason, your appointment will typically last 30 minutes. If you are a returning patient, your visit will typically last 15 minutes.

Where does Dr. Birney perform surgeries?

[Dr. Birney performs most of her surgeries at Lakewood Surgical Center. She is also on staff at Porter Hospital.]

[Dr. Birney welcomes children to her practice. Dr. Birney also performs surgery on children.]

[We have two audiologists on staff that will be happy to assist you with any hearing aid needs you may have.]

Will my hearing aids be covered under my insurance?

[Our audiologists are not contracted with insurance companies to cover hearing aids. If you have further questions regarding insurance and hearing aids, feel free to contact our office to speak with an audiologist.]

What happens if I need a doctor after hours?

[There is an ENT on call 24 hours a day through our answering service. If you need to speak with a doctor, please call our office at 303-933-9050 for the answering service phone number.
